Couture Fashions

Couture fashions are tagged as luxury wear and expensive as well as difficult to obtain fashion apparels. The word couture is French and is used to describe apparel that is created by top designers for exclusive clientele. Fashion shows are held to display the designs. Models wearing the fashions walk down the runway while fashion photographers, buyers from exclusive boutiques and celebrities watch from the audience. The biggest semi-annual event in couture is called Fashion Week where design houses show off their collections.

Top designers abound in the United States and Europe whose names are widely known. They include Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Versace to name just a handful. These designers create apparel and accessories that are expensive and exclusive. You will see stars like Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie walking the red carpet in gowns by some of these designers and various others. Celebrities have stylists who work with the designers to acquire the fashions for their clients and choose what looks best.

Celebrities aren't the only people wearing couture. The wealthy high society crowd may not have their names in the tabloids or be seen in the movies but they can afford couture. For example they may carry the latest Louis Vuitton purse and wear Chanel suits on a regular basis. Or they may enjoy a casual lunch at the country club dressed in a Ralph Lauren ensemble with a Balenciaga bag. Even sunglasses have gone couture with top shades selling for hundreds of dollars or even more.

If you are not in the category of people who can afford to buy a wardrobe couture fashions but want a taste of the rich life, you can still own a piece or two without going into debt. Believe it or not, Ebay is a good place to find secondhand designer fashions at a reduced price. Use caution and only deal with reputable sellers when shopping for couture on this auction site. There are plenty of authentic pieces, but there are also lots of fakes that look exactly like the real thing. Always read fine print, ask the seller any questions you may have and watch out for prices that are too good to be true before bidding.
